Electronics

Development of the electronics bay is underway. The components have been modeled in Pro/ENGINEER, including cabling to give a more realistic representation. Shown here is the electronics bay base. This serves to mount all subsequent electronics, provide a thermal base for the H-Bridges, and secure the battery pack.

Snapshot

Shown here is the manufacture (in progress) of an aluminium heat conductor - this will attach between the electronics bay and the external heat sink to ensure the H-bridges are kept cool. If you are interested in manipulating the 3D models, get ProductView Express from PTC. Then click on this link to check out the model.

Cradle & Assembly

At last, some of the robot is beginning to take shape. Here it is possible to see the main chassis section of the robot sitting in its cradle (top). Also visible is the battery pack and the PC104 stack.

Most of the components are fitting together with a bit of tweaking (of course). With the development of a (very) simple Matlab program, it may be possible to test the robot sometime this week.
